FLC 1s Pair Natusch/Seabury Finish 4th in Big 8 & Qualify for NorCal Regionals

Folsom Lake College beach volleyball finished the Big 8 Conference season in 5th out of 7 teams. With the 5th seed finish, FLC was able to send two pairs (1s Mackenzie Natusch/Abby Seasbury & 2s Piper Jones/Kimora McKechnie) to the Big 8 Conference Pairs Championships that was held last Friday at College of Marin. It was a long and challenging day with high winds to boot. The 2s, Jones/McKechnie had wins against Cosumnes River 3s pairs and San Joaquin Delta 3s pairs. Our 2s fell to Sierra 1s pair and San Joaquin Delta 2s pairs, missing qualifying for the NorCal Regional playoffs by one match win. At the 1s, Natusch/Seabury beat American River 5s pair and San Joaquin Delta 1s pair to automatically qualify for the NorCal Regional playoffs. In the semi-final match of the Big 8, Natusch/Seabury dealt with extreme winds and fell to ARC 1s in 2 sets. The pair then played on set to 21 against Sierra 3s pair, coming up short. Natusch/Seabury entered the Big 8 Pairs Tournament as the number 4 seed, finishing at the same seed. Jones/McKechnie entered the tournament at 15 and finished 13th. 

Natusch/Seabury advance to the Northern California Regional Pairs Tournament! 

What does this mean? The top 12 pairs from the Big 8 Pairs Championship get a bid to the competitive tournament, which includes the conferences Big 8, Coast, and Golden Valley. The FLC 1s pair is seeded 11th going into the tournament and will face number 22 seed Shasta. Brown/Church, who they saw in February and defeated in 2 sets to zero, at 9 AM on Friday at  the Sac Softball Complex. This tournament will take place over two days, Friday, May 3rd at Sac Softball Complex and Saturday, May 4th at Sac State. The road to state is complicated to some, but to say it simply, Natusch/Seabury need to win two matches before they lose two and they will automatically qualify for the State Tournament at West Valley on May 9th and 10th.
